Westminster BH wins the NDCA national championship

Congratulations to Westminster’s Mary Bryce Brannen and Harrison Hall for winning the 2017 National Debate Coaches Association national championship.  Westminster defeated MBA KR on a 3-0 decision in the final round.  They were 5-1 in prelims and the 10th seed entering into the elimination rounds.  Their outround opponents leading up to the final were: New Trier KS, Rowland Hall BM, MBA BH and New Trier BW.  They only dropped three ballots at the entire tournament.  Congratulations to BH and to the whole Westminster Wildcat family on winning another national championship.

The other two semifinalists were St. Marks WW and New Trier BW.  The quarter-finalists were Peninsula TW, MBA CJ, MBA BH and MBA GJ.

The top speaker of the tournament was Peninsula’s  Raam Tambe.  He was followed by New Trier’s Connor Warshauer, Peninsula’s Jerry Wang, MBA’s Ben Rosenthal and Carrollton’s Alexia Boulos.
