Companies, Activists and Scientists Demand Encryption

From the Intercept, yesterday, we learned that a new petition from 200 corporations, activists, and scientists is urging world leaders to support encryption technologies that will protect personal, business and governmental files from being accessed.

Despite not having produced useful information found for criminal or terrorist plots, the FBI and the DOJ are continuing to insist encryption represents a greater danger than it protects. Despite this, the broad consensus of technologists is that building backdoors for governments create much more harm than good.

The group presenting the petition is called Access NOW and you can read about more details of this latest development here.
